The Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band (SNLVB) offers two different student awards annually, the Rollie Nelson Student Incentive Award, and the Merle Danielson Music Scholarship. Applications for these awards open in January each year.
The Rollie Nelson Student Incentive Award:
recognizes outstanding young musicians of High School age, and provides incentive for them to continue in music beyond secondary education.

The Merle Danielson Music Scholarship:
recognizes outstanding High School Senior musicians who plan to enroll in an undergraduate Music Education program, or college freshmen who are already enrolled in an undergraduate Music Education program.
