Application form and instructions


The Merle Danielson Music Scholarship
recognizes outstanding High School Senior musicians who plan to enroll in an undergraduate Music Education program, or college freshmen who are already enrolled in an undergraduate Music Education program.

 

Amount of Award. The SNLVB generally expects to present a $500 award; however, the Awards Committee may divide the award money in other ways. For example, if two or more candidates are equally qualified, the committee reserves the right to divide the award equally among those candidates.

Eligibility requirements. Applicant must:
• be a High School senior accepted into a Music Education program, or a college freshman already enrolled in Music Education
• be in, or graduated from, the Mounds View, White Bear Lake, and Roseville Area School Districts
• complete and submit the application form
• not be a member of the SNLVB or an immediate family member of an SNLVB member
• not have received an SNLVB student incentive award in the past

To apply, applicants must complete and submit the application form (link above). Detailed insructions may be found in the application. Please note that a short bio and head shot must accompany the application. The completed application must be emailed to: snlvbawards@gmail.com (Applications will only be accepted by email). The application form is fillable pdf format, and can be downloaded and can either be filled in directly, or printed then filled in, scanned, and then attached to the email.

Use of award money. The award winner should use the money for musical purposes. For example, the money might be used to cover private music instruction, a music camp, music education or the purchase of an instrument.

Criteria. The award will be offered without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, age and any other characteristics protected by law. While giving ample consideration to the age and grade level of each applicant, the SNLVB Awards Committee will consider several factors in selecting the award winner, including:
• Musical achievement, involvement and interest
• The candidates’ stated intent for use of the award
