Membership in the Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band is a fun and rewarding experience for everyone. The band itself is a true community band in the sense that membership is open to anyone (16 or older) who wants to play. There are no auditions, and nobody gets kicked out. Though we are headquartered in Shoreview, you do not even have to be a Shoreview resident to participate.The primary goals of the SNLVB are to get people together to have fun making music, socializing and entertaining at community events. To that end, members are expected to attend rehearsals regularly, play for our public appearances, help the organization through committee work when possible and, of course, pay their membership dues.

Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at our rehearsal facility at the Shoreview Community Center.

The Band takes the entire month of August off, with no rehearsals or performances.

From Interstate 694, take Lexington Avenue north approximately 1.5 miles to Highway 96. Turn East on 96 to the first traffic light, Victoria Street. Turn north on Victoria to the Shoreview Community Center. From Interstate 35W, take Highway 96 (first exit north of I-694) east to fourth traffic light, which is Victoria Street.

Rehearsal Info

Attendance is open to anyone who would like to play; no appointments, no auditions.

The Shoreview Northern Lights Variety Band rehearses at the Shoreview Community Center, located at the northeast corner of Victoria Street and Highway 96 in Shoreview.  Unless otherwise noted, rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except during the month of August.

 

Once inside the Shoreview Community Center, you’ll find our rehearsal facility in the banquet room just inside the front door.

Our schedule does occasionally change, especially after major concerts, so it is wise to click here for the current band calendar.
